MISTY QUILTS CREATES THIS WONDERFUL QUILT FROM:
A signature pattern by Eleanor Burns

Whirligig is made from 100 % cotton quilting fabrics, in my version all are individually chosen from several different fabric lines. All harmonize well together for a pleasing combination. The other pre cut kits will vary slightly as I enjoy for each quilt to be unique in its own way. Blocks are made from 24 different colored fabrics, background of each block= white on white being the same. Sashing strips are another white on white design. What makes this quilt so interesting is that the center blocks and the outside blocks are mirror images for a total of 50 blocks.
Weather you would like to make one for yourself, or have me make one personalized just for you or for that special person you care about. It is sure to be A real eye pleaser.

Princess Quilt

Brought to me as a project started pre assembled in random sections. It was my job to complete it. Bringing it all together and making it the size they wanted was the challenge. I had to find suitable fabrics and a lot more fabric was needed. Wish I had started taking photo’s earlier in the process.

The “Kit” that started this project was only a lap top size, and a novice had no idea what that meant. From a 36″ X 45″ size when finished it measured a generous “queen size” approx 85″ X 115″ Enough to go up over the pillow, hang down on the foot and sides to cover the mattress & box spring !

Now I need to get a photo of it in the real Princess room.

Hot Diggity Dog another project 2/3′s complete in just one day !

I was very excited to make this and it was some fun fabric too.

A fun race car design was put together with Blank’s Splash fabric line in some bright fun colors,

and a deep tonal Splash to ground the entire project. I work a lot with this Splash fabric, because you can

pull anything from your stash and go to the Splash fabric section and always find something that will work nicley

with it. There are 99 colors in the Splash line to choose from. So I feature these in my shop, its a no fail choice !

Paper Doll pillow case Secret Pocket

Paper Doll pillow case Secret Pocket

This was so much fun to make. I used the “hot diggity dog” method to construct the pillow case.

First your bun (the hem edge/ open end) goes down, then put your condiment (small accent strip) on top of that

you roll up the (body of the case) which becomes the hot dog, and carefully bring up the bun and enclose it all.

Sew through all layers leaving the 2 ends of the bun open, then the magic. pull the Hot Dog out of the inside, all the layers are together hem is perfect

and all you do is sew the side and bottom seam while the case is RIGHT SIDE OUT, then turn INSIDE OUT and sew one more time.

No raw edges and no stray threads or seams visible ! But I took this one to another level and included a pocket inside.

Just big enough to keep a secret diary, lost tooth, or just the Dolls clothes ! How fun is that. :-)

This will be a Special surprise for one little girl that visits “Misty Quilts” this July !

Quilt as you go with "Splash"

Quilt as you go with "Splash"

This is a quilt as you go project based on one of my favorite colors in the Splash line,”Cardinal”.
This Table Topper is 30″X30″ and is made with 16, 7 & 1/2″ blocks.
I love how the Splash fabric works with so many fabrics from my stash bin, helping me use up all those odds & ends.
Just think of all the Stash-a-bilities !

Everyone just loved my Little May Basket Quilt. They would look and look again to see if it really was all little pieces !! And yes it sure is 163 little paper pieced sections make up this 12″ miniature Quilt.

I am so happy how this turned out, Sure do hope that others will enjoy it too. This is a project from Carol Doak’s book “Easy paper pieced miniatures”. It is called Amish Baskets, I named my finished project ” May Baskets” As it was chosen for a project of the month that had to have a theme “May Basket”. I though this fit the bill perfectly.

Carol does such a wonderful job with instructions, measurements, and templates. Its pretty much a sure thing your project will come out nice if you can read you could do this.

Lost blocks

I have been quite busy, here is the scoop on what has happened.
My first Carol Doak Paper pieced block swap was a disaster. The lady running it dropped out of sight for months, then contacted Carol Doak and it seems lost contact again. I know Carol is trying to find a way of getting her to return all the blocks to her but it has not happened as of yet. So after a while I did sign up with another swap group on the Carol Doak Yahoo group. Made all the blocks, mailed them in and as of now our group is waiting on one person to complete her block before the swap organizer can return all of the blocks to the participants.
Guess I will have to look for photo’s of this batch of blocks to post here.

I have been visiting with my girls and their children for a couple of weeks. The little ones keep me so busy I barley have time to get near the computer. But that is OK because it dosen’t hapen that often.

My daughter is working on building Us a web site so it will be up and running in the very near future. Hopefully that will keep us busy once I get home and really apply myself to my quilting again.

Will keep posting here as I have time.

byee for now. Baby is awake AGAIN !
